Turval Laboratories winner of Joint Project call of University of Verona
Turval laboratories have received one of the five funding made available by Joint Project, the call promoted by University of Verona that enhances research projects between companies and researchers.
The call of this year has focused on the food sector, selecting five projects submitted by companies and research groups of the University for the realization of which were intended around three million euros.
Dr. Paola Lovrovich of Turval, in collaboration with a research group of the Department of Biotechnology, presented a project on Probiotic Lactic Yeast ®Turval B0399, the new probiotic yeast produced in the laboratories of Udine and used as an ingredient for food supplements.
Thanks to the funding and the work with researchers, Turval will refine the method for quality control of the yeast, develop a production process more efficient but also study for the first time the genetic features of these new yeast probiotics.
"The study will be conducted in collaboration with the Institute of Applied Genomics - says Alessandro Turello, Turval administrator - and this will allow us to expand the applications in the food sector and to inform companies and consumers".
"It is a great success for the company but also for the Science and Tecnology Park. - says Fabio Feruglio - This project is just one of many examples of best practice of technology transfer that shows how the laboratory research can play a vital role in the economic development of the region. "
